Esteemed thought leaders from the fields of politics, religion, economics, art, natural sciences, and humanities contribute inspiring insights to complement the daily reflections rooted in the over 1,500-year-old Rule of Benedict.
This platform offers individuals who assume responsibility for themselves and their communities a diverse array of proven ideas to guide their actions and reflect on their decisions.
The Rule of Benedict, attributed to Benedict of Nursia, is divided into 73 sections. In Benedictine monasteries worldwide, a specific section is read daily in a structured sequence.
HORA BENEDICTI consolidates these sections along with relevant contemporary inputs into a mobile application. The current day's section can be displayed on the device's lock screen. Users can view an overview of the entire Rule, mark favorite sections, and share content with others. The app operates without sound and can be used in airplane mode, ensuring accessibility anytime and anywhere as a source of inspiration. Updates are delivered via an online connection.
An analog-style clock provides an easy reminder of the current time.
Additional features include blogs and direct linking to the websites of Benedictine monasteries across German-speaking Europe, offering further insights into the life, thought, and activities of monastic communities today.
The app deliberately refrains from advertising and the collection of user data. To cover costs related to content preparation, infrastructure maintenance, and ongoing development, the app is offered on a paid basis.
